L’été, il fait parfois chaud le long des rivières. Les jours sont longs. Les jeunes animaux et oiseaux grandissent. Ils apprennent comment trouver de la nourriture et se sauver du danger. Les plantes poussent, et leurs feuilles et branches s’étendent. Les baies sauvages commencent à mûrir, et beaucoup de gens et animaux les mangent.
L’automne, il peut faire frais et venteux près d’un estuaire. Les jours sont plus courts. Les animaux et les oiseaux se préparent pour le long hiver qui s’en vient. Quelques-uns s’engraissent pour qu’ils puissent dormir tout l’hiver. D’autres se rassemblent avec leurs familles pour commencer leurs longs voyages aux endroits où il fait plus chaud. Les saumons rentrent de la mer et montent dans leurs ruisseaux natals pour pondre leurs œufs dans le gravier.
