Ziigwen Mixemong

Ziigwen Mixemong is a 21 year old student working and living on Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Territory. Her spirit name, Ziigwen, translates into "Bringer of New Life", and she is a member of the Loon Clan, or Maang Dodem. She takes both of those responsibilities to heart, trying to incorporate traditional wisdoms into her work for the good of her community.

The daughter of two cycle breakers, Ziigwen has learned to listen to her ancestors, to honour their sacrifices, and to leave the world just a little better than she found it.

Gifts for Dawnis reminds us that everything is here for a purpose, and that when we ask, we are always shown the answers. We just have to learn to listen.
