This Every Child Matters shirt from Strong Nations Publishing was designed by Cree artist Andrea Cunningham, winner of the 2024 Orange Shirt Design Contest.
The Handprint design was inspired by the unimaginable pain caused by residential schools, where children were ripped away from their mothers. Every child deserves a gentle hand to hold, and Andrea hoped to capture this in the design.
Orange Shirt Day is observed every year on September 30th to honour residential school survivors and their families.
A percentage of proceeds are donated to the Indian Residential School Survivor Society (IRSSS) https://www.irsss.ca/.
