Strong Nations Publishing

Strong Nations is an Indigenous owned and operated publishing house located on the traditional and unceded territory of the Snuneymuxw First Nation.

We work with new and established Indigenous writers and artists to uplift Indigenous voices. Our books reflect a diversity of perspectives and align with our values of social responsibility, environmental stewardship, and language revitalization. We specialize in the publication of children’s literature and educational resources, including reading series, teaching guides for educators, and a variety of materials for the learning environment. It is a central goal of our books to provide positive representation of Indigenous knowledge and perspectives to the next generation.

Manuscript Submission Guidelines

We welcome submissions from Indigenous writers and artists in English, French, and Indigenous languages.

Priorities for Publication

We are interested in Indigenous stories by Indigenous creators in the following genres:

  • children’s picture books
  • early reader chapter books for ages 6-9
  • middle-grade books for ages 9-12
  • graphic novels for children and teens
  • non-fiction books for young learners
  • books and resources for use in education

Submission Guidelines

  • Please include a synopsis, full manuscript, author contact information, and a brief author biography. In your bio, please indicate your Indigenous cultural background and the community or communities with which you affiliate.
  • Please format manuscripts in a Word document, double-spaced, in 12 pt. Times New Roman font.
  • For picture books and graphic novels, we prefer submissions without illustrators attached to the project. If we decide that it is the right fit for publication, we will work closely with you to create a list of talented artists that align with your vision for the book.
  • Please indicate if the manuscript is a sequel or intended to be part of a series.
  • Please indicate if the manuscript has been previously self-published.
  • Hard-copy submissions will not be returned. Please do not send original artwork or the only copy of a manuscript.

Please email your submissions to Topher Beaton, Manager of Publishing, at publish@strongnations.com or send by mail to:
