Synopsis:

This anti-bullying t-shirt for Pink Shirt Day features Odawa artist Wiisagi Ma'iingan's "Choose Kindness" design.

Artist Statement: This artwork is inspired by my relationships with my friends and chosen family. The design itself features two different Indigenous persons to show that we, as Indigenous people, come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. The illustration aims to show off the beauty of all our Indigenous relations. When I thought about the meaning of Pink Shirt Day, I thought about the antidote for bullying. To me, the antidote is rooted in kindness. The words on the shirt, "Choose Kindness," serve as a simple reminder to be kind. Choosing to be rooted this way might be different for each individual, but I personally believe that we can create a massive ripple effect to inspire love and kindness in others.

Pink Shirt Day is an annual anti-bullying event held in Canada and other parts of the world that encourages people to wear pink-coloured shirts to stand against bullying.
