Dr. Gilles Pinette

Dr. Gilles Pineete is a Métis from Manitoba. Growing up in a small rural community, Dr. Pinette was taught to be proud of his heritage. These lessons would later help him to challenge the Western medical system. Dr. Pinette practices family medicine in urban Winnipeg and blends traditional Aboriginal teachings on health with modern day Western medicine.

Dr. Pinette’s contributions to the Aboriginal community have been recognized by the 2001 National Métis Youth Role Model Award and the 2002 National Aboriginal Achievement Award.
