Priscilla George

Ningwakwe (Rainbow Woman), aka Priscilla George, is a Deer Clan Anishnawbe from the Chippewas of Saugeen First Nation. She is the National Speaker for the National Indigenous Literacy Association (NILA). Ningwakwe has been involved in Aboriginal literacy for nineteen years, from the grassroots level and international levels.



Ningwakwe advocates for the holistic approach to literacy and life, which means recognizing and nurturing the Spirit, Heart, Mind and Body. Ningwakwe believes that literacy impacts on all areas of life.

Ningwakwe has developed and delivered the First Nations Literacy Certificate Course for the Toronto Board of Education’s First Nations Adult Education Program, in cooperation with the Native Women’s Resource Centre, Toronto.
